Shameless plug for a contest entry

instructablesAs the title says, this is a shameless plug. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a common expression that means “I have no excuse for this except my own self-interests. I’m not ashamed of that, but what I’m saying here doesn’t serve a higher cause.” At least that’s what I think it means. Anyway, I need your help…

You may recall that a few weeks back I (finally) published an entry about my NAS. The device has served me really well, and even before it was up on this site, it was out on the web with instructions at instructables.com. I put it up there and it was pretty darn well received. Very popular. At the same time, it turned out there was a contest being run called the “Epilog Challange”.

Epilog laser is a company that makes laser cutters, and they teamed up with Instructables to give away a laser-cutter in a contest. The premise was that you had to make an Instructable (a series of instructions to create something: this is a really a cool site BTW, I highly recommend it.) with a ‘green spin’. I realized that my little NAS is energy efficient, so I decided to enter.

The entry period has closed up, and Instructables sent me an email telling me that my entry was accepted, so cool! Now though, I need some help. In order to win, I need people to vote for my instructable, and in order to do that, I’m “getting out the vote” so-to-speak and asking people to pop in and vote for my instructable. It’s easy, and you do have to get an account on instructables. I don’t think you’ll regret it though. Instructables is an awesome site, and if you have any interest in creating something yourself, I think you’ll be right at home.

Anyway, go to my instructable. You’ll see a button towards the top-right/center that says “vote now” that looks like this:

voteClick on that, and you’ll have voted for me! That would be really helpful. In return for your vote, I will do really cool stuff with the laser cutter. That’s the promise. I will make cool stuff. I will make cool stuff for me, for other people, maybe even for you… Who knows. There are tons of possibilities.

So that’s the plug. If nothing else, go give a shot to Instructables. It’s a cool site.

Vote for me. Please. It’ll be awesome.
