The Aaron Eiche Podcast, Episode 8

Sometime before my computer had a complete and total meltdown, I made episode 8 of The Aaron Eiche Podcast.ย My backup routine fortunately saved it for me, and I thought I’d take a little bit of time this evening and put it up for all to see hear.

Things that you want to know:

  • Crystal Clear Pepsi premiered in 1992 and only lasted until 1993
  • Wikipedia’s List of Pepsi Types is an intriguing read.
  • Pepsi Next premiered in March 2012
  • This was recorded in July, and released in late September – I can’t remember remotely what Pepsi Next tastes like.
  • Tony Danza in aย Diet Rite Commercial.
  • It Turns out both feedback@aaroneiche.com and podcast@aaroneiche.comย work. Choose the one you feel most comfortable with.

Thanks again for taking the time to listen. Shoot me some feedback – it’s very welcome.

  1. Listener #2 checking in. ๐Ÿ™‚ I just listened to the podcast. I remember my very first experience with cola flavored soda. I was about 10 years old and the soda was Tab, and I did not like it. It took me a couple years to get over it and try a Coke, which was better, but I still wasn’t a fan. When I later tried Pepsi it was instant love. As a teenager it was my drink of choice until I discovered Dr Pepper and Mountain Dew (not combined, I mean separately of course).

But either my tastes have changed since those years or the formulas have changed. Now I find Mt Dew to be bland. Dr Pepper and Pepsi are too sweet. Now my favorite is Coke. But I do not like diet sodas of any kind. I can taste the artificial sweetener and I find it repulsive. So I don’t drink soda very often, but when I do I go for the full sugar effect.

In fact, I really like the taste of sodas made with real sugar instead of HFCS. Maybe that’s what’s changed the taste of Mt Dew, Dr P, & Pepsi…

  • Thanks for listening Bill! I was a Pepsi fan too when I was younger. Interestingly, I find sugary sodas too sweet so I go for the diet stuff. It seems to fit just right for me.

Not too long ago I tried Zevia, it’s a soda sweetened with stevia instead of sugar. I had their “cola”. It wasn’t too bad, but tasted too cinnamon-y. They have a bunch of versions based on all the popular sodas: Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, Root Beer. I haven’t spent much time on them since, but I do have another can laying around somewhere waiting for another taste-test ๐Ÿ™‚
